“A bodhisattva must train not only in meditation and the other spiritual practices, but also in almost every other science. He or she must learn medicine to help those who are ill; languages to be skilled in explaining the teachings, thus removing the misconceptions of beings; logic to be quite clear about the true teachings of the Buddha and able to dispel wrong views; and art to be able to communicate the teachings as a painter, sculptor, and the like. The bodhisattva learns all these skills to enable others to enter into the teachings that lead to liberation.”–Deshung Rinpoche, from The Three Levels of Spiritual Perception
